Standing Together: Frontline Social Work

Across different parts of the world, social workers continue to support individuals, families, and communities in contexts affected by conflict, displacement, humanitarian crises, and social disruption. Despite extraordinary challenges, they remain present on the frontline — creating support, strengthening communities, and responding where needs are greatest.

These initiatives bring together professional solidarity, shared learning, and practical support for locally led social work responses in Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Ukraine.

As a member of the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), ASproAS believes that professional solidarity goes beyond borders. Through these initiatives, we aim to stand alongside social workers working in challenging contexts and support locally led responses through learning, collaboration, and action.

Initiatives We Support

Supporting Social Workers in Afghanistan

Afghan social workers continue to support individuals, families, and communities in extremely challenging circumstances shaped by displacement, social instability, and limited access to support systems. This initiative aims to strengthen professional solidarity and provide practical support for social workers and their communities through collaboration and international engagement.

Social Work on the Frontline: Supporting Social Workers in the Democratic Republic of Congo

Communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo continue to face the impact of armed conflict, displacement, and humanitarian pressures. This initiative supports locally led social work responses, community projects for children, “Safe Women Corners,” and opportunities for learning, collaboration, and international professional solidarity.

Since the beginning of the war, social workers in Ukraine have played a critical role in supporting displaced people, families, children, and communities affected by crisis. This initiative promotes professional exchange, visibility, and shared learning while strengthening support for social workers responding in highly challenging contexts.
